Help with bump maps
Posted by Lasse Ankanpää on July 26, 2009 at 10:59 pmHi, im having a problem with bump mapping. I did a spline object, which i placed inside extrude nurbs, and now i applied a material that has a bump map enabled. But i cant see the bump map in rendering.

July 27, 2009 at 5:53 amwhat is the Projection of the texture? Any scale difference (LengthX, Y)?

July 27, 2009 at 2:31 pmIm not sure what you mean by the projection, but the bump texture is a JPG image with 512 x 512 resolution, i have tried different sizes like 2048 x 2048 and 1024 x 1024 and 256 x 256, but they only change the shading a bit. But for primitives, the bump map can be seen very clearly. I have also tried to change the Extrude nurbs type to quadrangles with regular grid checked, but no change.

July 27, 2009 at 3:43 pmProjection refers to the setting in the material’s texture tag that tells Cinema how the material should be wrapped around your object.
If it doesn’t render on the caps, try adding the material a second time (two texture tags), and in the second tag’s “selection” box, type: “C1”. That will tell Cinema to place that material only on the first cap of the extrude. The other built-in selection sets are C2 (end cap) and R1 and R2 (rounding/bevel 1 and rounding/bevel 2).
Projection for the caps material should be set to “Flat”, and you may need to adjust the rotation with the texture axis tool.
