[Anders Holck] “And maybe use Freerun timecode and set the timecode to the clock.
Then all timecodes of the day will be unique and you can track the time as well.”Dear Jeremy G and Anders Holck,
Thanks for the tips. Even though the problem needs to be fixed by Panasonic these workarounds are helpful and I will put them to use. -

February 13, 2006 at 12:56 am in reply to: Received New HVX200 – Observations for JLCThank you very much for your reply. It was very helpful.
I believe I saw “EOS” at the end of a clip playback but I haven’t been able to replicate it tonight.
I’m starting to get the hang of this cam but it will take a little while. It is very complex and that is good.
I’m still wondering if you think these two observations have any merit for your engineering staff:
1. The apparent size of the monitor in the eyepiece is disappointingly small. I have been using a Sony DSR250 for some years now and it has a much larger viewing angle/area. The HVX200 eyepiece monitor seems like it is “farther away”, swimming in the vast darkness of outerspace…
2. One other thing. I tried shooting a few different formats on the same p2 for fun and then find I cannot view them back in the LCD monitor unless the playback is set the same as the recording was. So far I haven’t found a quick method for changing this but regardless, I really think this should be done “on the fly” by the camera itself.

Thanks for the bucks. Nice job.

Dear Gary,
You said “you cannot record to the camera over FW or USB the data is for playout only.”I have been told by another moderator in this forum that you CAN output from your NLE back to the camera P2 by Firewire.
I need to use this feature in order to bring commercials I produce to air.My process would be to shoot on the HVX (specifically DVCPRO50 and hopefully soon DVCPRO HD), offload to my G5, edit, and then (hopefully) upload the finished :30 back to the camera (P2) so that I can take it to the studio where I make my BetaSP dubs for the TV Stations.
Right now I drop my stuff back onto DVCAM tapes and take them to the dub house where they have DVCAM decks and we do the transfer that way. I need to get this cleared up or the HVX200 is no good to me.
Who’s right???
On the other hand, if you have an alternate method for me to shuttle spots (that end up on BetaSP) I would appreciate knowing what it is.
Thanks.

>What sony hdv camera your friend has?
Or do they give analog component output only with hd?>He has a Z1. If you read Igor’s Jan 7 response you will get the picture. I think he explains it real well.

Because I don’t own the BetaSP deck. I pay people to make my dubs to BetaSP. They have DVCAM decks also so presently I can take my master tape there and dub it off. With P2 I have to be able to off load my spot from FCP to the camera to take it to the dub house to make the BetaSP dubs.
OR buy an extra tape device or whatever which I don’t want to have to spend the money on to take over to the dub house. Also, they don’t have anything that reads freestanding P2 cards.
Mastering it back into the camera is the most efficient method and is basically what I do now with the DSR250 except I don’t have to take the camera in – I just take the DVCAM tape.

What he told me is that his Sony will not output 4:3 SD video that he has shot in HDV. From what Barry Green is telling me, that IS possible with the HVX200 (not HDV obviously but HD to SD).
Thanks for your time.
