[Mark Raudonis] “We settled on “Ultimatte”.”

    Dear Mark,
Thanks for your recommendation. I have also looked at this plug-in but was backed off by the expense. I think I am going to have to kick in for either this plug-in or the DV Garage one. I love chroma-key but it is always such a struggle in post. It looks like it’s time to bite the bullet…

I appreciate you guys responding because I am really on my own island here in Wichita and am never really sure if something in software works the way it is supposed to or I am doing it wrong. Hearing from others who are involved in the same issues vastly improves my decision making.

[Chris Poisson] “DVmattePro will give you much better results than the standard keyer. It’s amazing. I understand they are releasing a new version soon as well. “

Dear Chris. Thanks for the recommendation. I have looked at it before but not bought it. I just sent them an email to see if they have a new version coming out soon. I will forward that data when they answer me.

[Luis Caffesse] “Panasonic is offering a free introductory DVD about the HVX200 for US customers.”

Dear Luis, thanks for reminding me about this. I saw the offer on the website or in some promotional piece in a magazine or somewhere about a week or two ago. I applied for it then but have not seen it arrive yet.
Now you got me running to the mailbox again every day!

That pretty much figures. MicroSoft has never been one to advance the state of the art. A simple review of the specs will show any fair minded person that Blu-Ray is far superior to the “HD-DVD”. Blu-Ray will hold much more data than the HD-DVD and we all know that the need for data space ALWAYS increases.
Regardless, though, I think the Holographic disks that have been discussed in this group will trump both of these technologies in short order.

I likewise am skeptical of the Iomega media but don’t know anything about this JPEG 2000 that you are praising. Why is it so much better than DVCPro? Can you expand on that?

I would assume the 4:2:2, 50Mbps DVCPRO50 signal has to be recorded to the P2 card(s) but I don’t know that for a fact. Can anyone confirm or can your record it to the DV tape?
