[RoRK]It all boils down to AE allowing for the CTI to move to a negative time value…
Do you guys see any use for the CTI to move into negative territory?None at all. It was counter-intuitive and useless to me.

Interesting Quiz RoRK. I thought I knew until I tried it.
A) To go to 00;00;12;22 type 1222 or 12.22
B) 22 frames forward type + 22
c) 22 frames backward type +-22 **This one got me** plus minus 22 -
I’ve downloaded the clip and I’m not sure I see what you describe.
Are you referring to the stuttering on the leading and trailing edges of the animated graphic? Or is this something else?
I don’t see any “upward” motion of the graphic.

Add a new layer to the earth map and animate a stroke or shape layer along a path from point to point in 2D.
Then either apply CC Sphere to that layer or combine it in a precomp and add the Sphere effect. I did this in 2 minutes.

Should give you an idea how to proceed.

Stills can be replaced with video easily. Track matte or mask the animation of your video screens to the word you want.
Often in animation we work backward. In other words we create an animation that is the reverse of what we desire,then play it backwards.
eg: Desired animation: dust blowing to form a word.
Workflow: Apply shatter (or similar) to word to break it into pieces.
PreComp or render out, nest in comp and time reverse. -
Without a story board, its difficult to visualize precisely what you want.
