Perhaps I don’t understand your issue. It appears that you’ve made this more complex than it needs to be, You can set the number of loops in the interpret footage dialog. If you’ve got a 3 second clip you need to loop, right click it in the project panel and set the number of times you want it to loop.

Another method to simulate projection is to set up the projected layer and the surface to receive the projection in 3D space.

Set up a light directed at the layer to be projected and set its light transmission to 100% (or whatever you want). The light will project the image onto the surface. You may need to play with some of the cast shadow settings etc. But it will give you a better simulation than transfer/blending modes.

Basic: Use the keyframe assistants to ease the keyframes.

More advanced: use the graph editor to edit speed of motion.

Check out the after effects basics forum and RTFM.

June 20, 2009 at 9:24 pm in reply to: Problem With Write-On Effect

The issue is how Write-On calculates the path position. Before drawing your path, Pre-Compose the layer. Draw the path, copy it then paste it to the Brush Position. Write-On uses the Comp size to determine the brush position.
