Since Nulls default to 100×100 px, you can do it manually by changing the xy values to 50,50 rather than the default 0,0.

There’s also a terrific script from NAB scripts that will reposition anchor points via a UI.

If the layer is selected, pasting will produce a mask. If the position property is selected (in most cases) you will past a motion path.

Select the XY coordinates in Particular an paste.

Both Particular and Particle Playground can do this.

In Particle Playground us set the Particle Exploder and use an 8 bit grayscale layer to control when the particles explode.

In Particular you can use the Aux System under Physics to emit at a Bounce Event or Continuously.

If you rendered ad RGBA the alpha (A) is preserved, check the transparency switch in the Comp viewer.

True that. However it will make for some interesting animations. The fact that its baked in doesn’t bother me, it will be interesting to see how flexible it is.

The French demo shows it in action, one feature is that it can generate a new comp based on the selected comp so you’ll be able to tweak settings and variations to taste.

I wouldn’t bother with green screen or any chroma key method.

Mocha may be all you need, it does a remarkable job with the sort of track you describe.

If its a difficult track you may want to add tracking markers to the iPad. Then roto the fingers and Mocha Shape (comes with AE 5) can help there as well. Check the Imagineer website for some tips on roto in Mocha.
