You’ll be waiting a long time. Apple has practically drawn a road map showing when and where each product will be announced and released. The new PowerMac towers will 99% be announced at the WWDC which has been moved ot August no doubt to make a little more time for the Powermacs. They’ll probably be available in limited supply a month after that, and greater supply throughout what’s left of the year.
All research I’ve seen demonstrates that a dual duo will be faster, but even by Apple’s current specs and claims, not by much. So, most likely it will be the next incarnation of intel processor, which I believe Intel has spec’d to come out before the end of this year.

Resizing them to the native size of DV 720×480 will be less overhead for the processor, but they’re still not in the DV codec so they need to eventually be rendered in any case.

They’re $35 at Godaddy.com. Sure other domains are $9, but if you want one so bad, pay the $35 bucks. I don’t know why they’re more expensive, but $35 is pretty darn cheap for a domain. Not worth worrying about the $27 price difference.

You can actually just put your selects into a timeline and media manage it, telling media manager to use the original clips, and delete the unused portion. No need to even copy the clips.
But if it’s just a couple clips, it’s just about as fast to export them as FCP movies, self contained. Don’t check the box labeled “recompress.” Duh.

Even the original mini would’ve been a better performer than that ol’ G4 350. The new graphics card should be quite a bit better than the one in your 350, which is a 16mb card if I remember – AGP. Unless you have the original G4 350 which had PCI graphics.

I had problems with DVDSP when I first got it. It basically wouldn’t run or function. Numerous calls to apple, other users, etc. could not fix the problem. In the end, I reinstalled my os and my software. In the end, had I done that in the first place it would have been quicker than the days and hours of calls I was making. Reinstalling was basically a couple hours worth of time.
I know it’s a pain, but something somewehre is corrupt and you’re most likely never going to figure it out. You might want to consider reinstalling the OS and apps. BACKUP EVERYTHING to another drive with carbon copy cloner first.

To clarify, that’s the computer system prefs, not FCP system prefs.

Sounds complex. I don’t think I can do that with the plugin I’m using.
What I’m doing is not the standard swap image / restore with preloaded images. I’m actually loading all the images, but hiding and showing them with DIV visibility. On mouse over it shows, on out it hides. So if I showed it with a click, then I’d have a problem. I’d need to hide it when someone clicks on another image. But how would I know which one to hide? That would take some custom code I’m sure.
But heck, this way is a nice deterrent to right clicking on an image and saving it. People can’t right click on them if they’re not there! But you can always do a screen shot.

What is the deal with windows and text smoothing or does Mac just have an amazing advantage? The fonts are right, but it doesn’t look like there’s any smoothing going on at all on the screen grab. I see the same thing on friends pc computers. All the mac broswers smooth the text beautifully. Strange.
Also, it looks like the volcano image is repeating. I thought I had the cell bgrnd css right. It shouldn’t repeat. Is that what I’m seeing? There’s a small thin blue line below the volcano image that looks like it’s repeating. Hmmm. No repeat on any mac browsers.
Unfortunately, the majority of folks aren’t on mac browsers. But your screen shot looks like it’ll do for the most part. This is a pro bono site for a friend that helped photograph our wedding.

Safari is pretty much the look I want. It feels right no matter what the scaling of the browser window.
I was kinda hoping IE windows looked at least like Firefox mac. The one I find the least acceptable is IE Mac. I don’t have windows system here. What does IE XP look most like on the mac side?
