Uncompressed would not be a codec by it’s very definition of COmpressionDECompression. I agree all that would be needed is QT just because it would be in a QT wrapper.

Agreed. However, if you’re using a DSR20 or similar deck, you’re faced with the problem many of us are. We can’t bump up the analog output setup. It’s not an option. And if you don’t have an external TBC then adding a proc amp 7.5 ire effect to the entire timeline is a great poor man’s trick for making a vhs dub out of the DSR20. It has the same result as running it through an external tbc. It’ll also do the trick if you have to make a dub to a rented beta deck out via the svideo port.

It’s not exactly the same. The quality is the same, but I think you end up with a mixed tape. DVCam has locked audio, while DV (or miniDV) does not. If you record DVCam onto a miniDV tape, you’ll get DVCam signal (faster tape speed, 40min instead of 60) but a miniDV audio signal, which is not locked. Locked and unlocked audio seem to be more important to linear editing.
Someone may fill in the fine details. But the bottom line is that it’s inconsequential, and your tapes will be just fine. I wouldn’t pay them as much though, in that they used tape stock that costs significantly less.

DV is approx 5 minutes per gig. You can do the math.

It’s a cool template, but I’d have to vote to scrap it. It’s pretty complex for a newbie to adjust or change.
Go with something real simple. For my wedding website I used a template included with Macromedia Contribute because I was too lazy to reinvent the wheel. Feel free to snag any code you like. I changed all the colors and fonts.

Yeah, I was off clicking on links before the backgrounds even showed up. And I don’t think they’re actually backgrounds, because they made the pages too wide for even 1024×768 screen I’m on.
And someone in your sister’s band is a huge early years IRON MAIDEN fan whether they know it or not. Pretty nifty.

You mean you only want one frame, not one COPY, right? It only imports one copy. Anyway, the still duration is in user preferences.
Couldn’t you just import a sequence instead?

You’ve just made some bad business decisions and learned from them. Time to take action and kick your buddy to the curb. Hire him as a shooter for $40/hour. After all, that’s about what a shooter should be making, depending on market of course. Sounds like that’s what he’s getting. As you’ve probably discovered, you’re not charging enough for your services. Charge full rate, or call it pro bono like your first wedding. But you’ve got zip for margins to work with, even at $1000. For the $1000 gig, your buddy should get a 10% finders fee (if he’s not a partner) and of course a decent wage (I’d say $40/hr is fine, or less if he’s not that great) for his work.
It’s obvious you’re the one with the plan. Now you know why not to jump into biz with friends. Tell him he’s doing a great job, but it’s getting too crazy and that you’ll pay him $20/hour for shooting, and by the job for scanning, etc. He’ll probably jump at it thinking he’s getting a great deal, when in a sense, you’re buying him out.
