    Hi,

I have FCP set up for NTSC DV. I have a pilke of historical images cripped 720×540 and ready to go. Everytime I import one I get the dreaded redline.

What do I have to do so I wont have to render every single one of these?

    Thanks

Resizing them to the native size of DV 720×480 will be less overhead for the processor, but they’re still not in the DV codec so they need to eventually be rendered in any case.

You could try messing around with the playback settings to lower the preview quality. You might be able to turn it into an orange line instead of a red one. You’d still have to render at the end, but you might be able to get some work done before you have to render which can be a big time-saver.

    Norm,

Are you using FCP 4 or 4.5 by any chance?

You did not mention what format your stills were. JPEG, TIFF, etc. You also do not have your computer’s configuration. You will always have to render still images. Depending on your system, FCP version and RT Settings, you should be able to monitor your stills in realtime.
