Netscape? What’s Netscape? 🙂

Or open the clip in quicktime, boost the volume there in properties, save the clip.

[NickM] “here is an MM mode called USE EXISTING.
this will automatically delete the master file for you,
but you don’t get a chance to check the results.
with a simple operation like this, it would probably be safe.
with a more complex situation like an edited timeline, it could be too risky
(even the manual warns about this)”It doesn’t delete the master file, it actually edits the master file. Hence the name, use existing. It doesn’t copy and delte. In other words, if your drives were completley full, you could delete the actual existing parts of the file that you didn’t use. Exactly what is desired. Yeah, it’s risky. But if you first make a copy of your project file, the worst that occurs is you have to do some batch capturing to fix.

April 27, 2007 at 4:10 pm in reply to: EMERGENCY:Tape appears to be write protected???????The rec inhi light comes on when your tape has rec inhi switched on. The adapter could perhaps be broken an not reading the tape right. Have you tried a larger normal size tape? Process of elimination.

Yes, just hold down option and select empty trash. Personally, I hold option while right clicking the trash can and choosing empty trash.

Or deinterlace your freeze frame. It’ll lower the resoltion noticeably, but the jitter will stop. Usually you want to freeze the last frame before the move. Easiest thing to do is to simply go frame by frame looking at the ntsc monitor. When you get one that doesn’t jitter, use it. Soemtimes there isn’t one and you’ve got to deinterlace.

Not sure why you’re not seeing something, but you’ll have to render the animation codec before it plays back in real time. Why not export from Media100 as DV50, 720×480 (not 640×480) 29.97 fps, lower field first, and then import into your fcp sequence? It should show up and you won’t have to render.
But you should be seeing something that says you need to render. Perhaps you have the “play base layer” setting on in your timeline? That setting plays the bottom layer if layers require rendering instead of showing blue render needed screen. Good idea to turn that on when working with clients. Looks more professional. Since your base layer needs rendering, perhaps it’s just showing nothing.

Was there some reason you didn’t read John Pale’s response 7 hours earlier? He said the exact same thing.

Probably have a PC formatted drive and you’re not exporting at the same format as your timeline. Format it for mac, but not journaled. Use the Disk Utility app in your applications folder.
If the drive isn’t formatted right, then QT is breaking up the files into 2gig files, with a single reference file that links to those files.
So you’ve probably got a 1.9 gig DV file, and you’re exporting it as uncompressed, which would make it roughly 5 or 6 times the file size. If you don’t need that (it’s not making the picture any better) then export it qt, and choose current settings, self contained.
