Trying to delete/remove P2 files as I’m finished with the project. When emptying the trash, I get “The operation cannot be completed because the item ‘Lastclip.TXT’ is locked.” Not sure what this is about and haven’t seen it before.

Hold Shift while you select ‘Empty Trash.’ This should override locked protection. If that doesn’t work, go find that file in your trash bin, get info on it, and uncheck the ‘Locked’ attribute.

I’ve tried both suggestions, I did find a lastclip locked but also found that I’m getting mxf files that are locked as well. I noticed that under Details, the lock in unlocked but in the preview icon of the mxf file there is a lock on lower left of icon.

The details lock is relative to permissions. You want to look under the general section of “Get Info.” Just below the ‘Color label’ attribute there are two check boxes, ‘Stationary Pad’ and ‘Locked.’ Uncheck that one.

Okay thanks, working now, but is there away to unlock all together or do I have to do unlock each file individually? Also, I’m not sure how they were locked in the first place, any idea?

Yes, just hold down option and select empty trash. Personally, I hold option while right clicking the trash can and choosing empty trash.

[Ben Insler] “Hold Shift while you select ‘Empty Trash.'”

Actually, it’s hold option and empty trash, not shift.

Make sure you have those p2 files backed up!!!!!

Yeah, thanks, I do have them backed up, twice, two different drives. Next time I will try the option key, no wonder ‘shift’ didn’t work!

    Yup. You’re right. My bad.
