You apparently have a smart action chosen, like loop or something. Lose the smart actions.

It’s not going to ask for the old serial number if you already have FCS 1 on the system.

I use the DV codec every day to do pristine jpeg image sequences. There are definitely some problems with FCP and dealing with jpegs of large size, but not the DV codec. Sorry I don’t know what you’re doing wrong, but you’re not going to notice a whole lot of difference in an 8 bit uncompressed codec. Not to the naked eye at least.
The key to jpegs in FCP is to make them the smallest size neccessary. In the example in this thread, the jpeg is pushing FCP’s maximum size. It should be scaled back in Photoshop to around 1000×1000 for great results. Ohterwise, FCP can’t handle the scale down. It can handle the scale up much easier.
If you’re working with huge jpegs, they’re going to look better the closer they are to their native pixel size. In other words, 100%.

So what speed is your MacPro? Tests have shown that for FCP the Intel chips are basically the same speed as the G5 chips, mhz for mhz. Rendering on the Mac pro 3ghz quad was a tiny bit faster than the fastest G5 quad.
Other programs – like Adobe After Effects- which utilize cache better than FCP, gain incredible speed gains because the RAM and Cache is faster in the mac pros.
And still your graphics card might be better in the G5? Perhaps you’ve got some settings different? Perhaps the BORIS stuff isn’t updated for the intel processors yet. Lots of things.

[decloux] “This is not whining. This is a very justifiable complaint:
Apple’s previous behavior had given me confidence that an upgrade done within 3 months (or even longer) would not be exorbitant. “It is whining. It is not justifiable. For the longest time you could expect a major upgrade every 12 months. Once it was even less! If FCP served your needs 4 months ago, why has that changed? Nobody is forcing you to purchase anything. Hey, I just bought a Mac Pro in January and now they have an octo and now my computer costs less, blah blah blah.
Here’s a thought. If it’s about costs, don’t but FCP6 until you need it. Which is what you should have done with FCP5. Perhaps youi’ll never need 6. I mean, are you a Motion expert already after 4 months? Have you already outgrown the tools in Soundtrack?
If you buy a refrigerator at Home Depot and 3 months later they come out with a better model for less money, do you really expect to be able to take yours back or be reimbursed or something?
People’s entitlement mindset just blows me away.

MacPro is a quad. Do you mean a G5? Anyway, it’s probably something specific to what you’ve got in the sequence. For example, you always had to render jpeg on G5, no matter what the green line was. It just didn’t do it right. It would be soft or shift just as you describe.
Perhaps you have less ram, a lesser video card, something, in your MacPro system.

Yeah, you need to render everything prior to output. Dark green, orange, whatever.

AND, the capture tool for P2 material is actually far superior to the tape capture tool. Bizarre. Seems they could combine the two instead of having 2 interfaces.

Autoplay isn’t disabled on my copy of Squeeze. Are you linking to flvs from the swf control panel, or are you embedding. I do the embedding and it works.
