November 10, 2011 at 6:24 pm in reply to: Any reason I shouldn’t shoot at 1080x30fps for action??There is going to be some give and take. 60 fps, is better, but it’s lower resolution. Do a test shoot with both frame rates and compare footage. If you are doing a lot of slomo, then stick with 60 fps.

November 10, 2011 at 6:22 pm in reply to: wide aperature zoom lenses for canon? 24-70? sigma v. tamron. v. canon v. ?I have the 24-70 2.8 L-Series. Yes it’s worth the extra cash. The canon L-Series lens has excellent color and image quality. You can see the difference. I haven’t used the other lenses you mentioned.

Using a 1.4, you’ll always have trouble achieving a perfect focus, especially on moving subjects.
Do a test shoot on a still object with a tripod. Alter your focus slightly and take multiple photos or video of the same object to see if you still have soft images.
Clean your sensor and mirror. Clean your lenses.

November 7, 2011 at 3:07 pm in reply to: What to move when moving video files off hard drive. Workflow question. If you want to preserve your complete project for future editing, then you need to copy the entire project folder and project files.
I have my FCP project and imported files in one folder. My RAW footage, DSLR, EX-1 video files are on another drive and in their own folders.
When you copy everything to another hard drive, copy EVERTHING as is so you can use it later. The problem is that FCP will not know where your files are and it will give you the MEDIA OFFLINE message. You will have to point FCP to the files folder so it understands where everything is again.

That’s the sweetness about the adobe suite….a little pun……
It works so smoothly with the native files. I don’t have the fancy video cards, and it still works fine.
