Shot with a Canon 5D so we have native H264 movies. Have a client on a PC with CS4 Premier and he might just cut with the H264. We have all Mac CS5.5 setups with Kona cards. Are we going to be able to edit with the native H264 (comfortably) on our Macs? We normally edit in ProRes in Premier and FCP.

Is native H264 editing on a Mac with CS 5.5 possible?

    Anyone?

Very possible. I’ve done it. Of course I have a graphics card that enables CUDA and Mercury Playback, and that helps a lot. If you have that, it should be smooth.

As long as you don’t use an AJA sequence setting. That’s the bottleneck.

That’s the sweetness about the adobe suite….a little pun……

It works so smoothly with the native files. I don’t have the fancy video cards, and it still works fine.

Great. For 1920 x 1080 30p footage what sequence setting on the Mac and PC would be preferred? Remember CS4 on PC CS 5.5 on Mac.

    Thanks guys…..

DSLR 1080p30 on CS5.5 on the Mac. I don’t know what settings CS4 has. I jumped into Premiere CS5 from just dabbling with CS3.
