Yeah, that’s frustrating. If it was in all of the clips, it would seem a normal issue. The 5D MK III addresses some of these issues and improves on performance.

The head comes with a mounting plate that you will attach to the bottom of your camera. It’s bigger than the camera and sticks out a bit, but if you end up using a bigger camera in the future, this head will hold the weight.

What kind of advice, are you a DJ too? That’ll be challenging.
One issue that’s come up is the blue LED lighting. It’s like the PAR Red lighting used to be. It looks bad on their faces and skin.

I use the Sony Wireless Lav system and a wireless hand held. I had one conference shoot with 12 wirless microphones going with no interference. That really sold me. Plus, the audio quality is very good.

I use a lowell softbox rated at 1000 watts. 1000 is a lot of light. You’ll probably only use 250-500 watts for an interview.
Make sure you can use change the bulb. I bought a 500 & 750 bulb for different lighting needs. Also, make sure you have a dimmer switch with it to adjust how much lighting you need on site.

Did this include a highlight reel? Yeah, you have to be clear at the beginning and put as much in writing as possible.
That’s actually a nice surprise, but it would have been better if they told you up front. The Short Form style of videos are getting popular. The total time is 20-30 minutes. It’s kind of a hybrid of a highlight and documentary film.
If it’s a simple edit, better to have a happy client, even though it’ll take you longer. But I’d also ask what they want you to cut out.
I had the opposite happen recently. They wanted all the footage shot during the photo shoot and my creative footage I shot for the highlight film. They said, we paid for all this time, it seems we should be getting more footage. I just burned the RAW footage not used on a DVD and gave it to them. In the end they were happy.

It’s best to lock your card before inserting it on a Mac. Mac’s will write a program onto the card. I haven’t had an issue with this, but some people have.
Don’t use Aperture for capturing video. Just plug in your card to your card reader and open the drive mounted on your desktop.
Make yourself a folder for your project and then a subfolder for each card with the proper labling for your shoot.
Drag the entire contents of your card into the folder you created to copy it over. Some people use another program to do this which checks the transfer data against the card. I’ve heard of some people having some of the data not being transferred. I’ve not had this problem.
Once you copied your cards over onto your computer. Then you can start a project and use the log and transfer plugin to import and properly format your video clips to ProRes for editing.

CS5 is worth the upgrade. I don’t have any issues just importing the footage of different codec’s into the project and dropping it onto the timeline. The time you save converting is worth the upgrade of less that $500.
