    Hey Shane,
Thanks for the quick response. That is how I loaded P2 mxf’s in, it is way faster than import.
I have tried to put them in Avid MediaFile folder, but they are not recognized so it doesnt even create a database file.
These would have been created at the beginnings of mxf, probably using a codec that is no longer supported. Where would I find the codecs for mxf, i only know of them in the Library/QuickTime and System/Library/QuickTime (but you cant modify these)?

I am able to open .mov files and play in QuickTime player.
When in Avid it will not allow .mov import, says not supported.
It will not AMA link to .mov files but can link to MXF files.
If I try to export a .mov from Avid it says cant do it because QT is not properly installed and reverts to AAF export.
Avid is not recognizing any QT.
Should there be a QT folder in Library/Application Support/Avid so Avid can locate QT Codecs? Should I do a OSX restore?

    Good eve,
Sorry it took me so long to get back, I was with family.
I have reinstalled 7.6.6 and Symphony 6.0.5 but Avid is still not recognizing QT.
A couple weeks ago I tried opening a 10bit.mov file and it seemed to have corrupt the QuickTime player included with 10.7.5 .
I can’t AMA link to .mov files or even import them.

Thanks Shane for your arrogant and misguided response. I will make sure to check your blog for all the latest misinformation.

Thanks for your response. I was looking into Grimm, went to their website and was going to download for a trial but then saw that MC was bundling with another plug in that dealt with LKFS compliance. I know it could do much more than normalize loudness, but the price! It made me think that Grimm might not be robust enough to handle the work flow because it is 10% of the price and I thought that I might run into a “you get what you pay for” scenario.

Thanks for your insight, I will give it a try.

Thanks for the info. Do you think it is worth going that route or is it better to stay 6.0 for the compatibility of prvious seasons?

I thought it was included with the Symphany upgrade. Within AVID you can ask to send to Sorenson but when the auto launch button is checked it doesn’t open anything. When I look in applications, there is no Sorenson Media file or folder. The symphony software was downloaded from AVID site.

Thanks for the quick response. These projects are shot 23.976 with lots of cranked shots for clean slo mo. When linking, the slo mo shots have trouble playing back, SFPlay Consumer::Execute TIMEOUT is what it says in lower right of source monitor. Should all the shots needed be transcoded before creating sequences or after the sequence is complete.

May 29, 2011 at 3:51 pm in reply to: Avid export to xdcam

They would prefer an xdcam file but they agreed to take a QT using XDCAM EX 1080i60 codec. Now all I need is the xdcam ex 1080i60 codec, do you know where I can find the codec and will it work on my 3.1.3 mc?

    Thanks for the help,
    Brad
