Avid not exporting QT
Posted by Brad Stanger on August 30, 2017 at 3:35 pmI have just recently run into the problem of avid not exporting a QuickTime.mov. Error message reads that QT is installed incorrectly, but am able to play back all files in QuickTime player. Tried to download and install a different version of qt, but still the error. Any ideas?

September 2, 2017 at 4:35 pmDo you have QuickTime v7.6.6 installed? This is a separate install with OS X Lion v10.7 and later.

September 8, 2017 at 4:05 amGood eve,
Sorry it took me so long to get back, I was with family.
I have reinstalled 7.6.6 and Symphony 6.0.5 but Avid is still not recognizing QT.
A couple weeks ago I tried opening a 10bit.mov file and it seemed to have corrupt the QuickTime player included with 10.7.5 .
I can’t AMA link to .mov files or even import them. -

September 8, 2017 at 6:39 pmI am able to open .mov files and play in QuickTime player.
When in Avid it will not allow .mov import, says not supported.
It will not AMA link to .mov files but can link to MXF files.
If I try to export a .mov from Avid it says cant do it because QT is not properly installed and reverts to AAF export.
Avid is not recognizing any QT.
Should there be a QT folder in Library/Application Support/Avid so Avid can locate QT Codecs? Should I do a OSX restore? -

October 8, 2017 at 9:13 pmI do not have a QT folder in /Library/Application Support/Avid. An OSX restore will help if Avid is relying on something that Apple should have installed. An uninstall and reinstall of Avid will help if Avid cannot find a file that it should have installed. An Avid reinstall is simpler than an OSX restore.
