I have a new HP Elitebook that I love and got a very good deal on.
Only problem is the screen is smaller then my last one.
Vegas runs well, but I almost always use an external monitor.
You can do it, but on a screen that small it may not be fun except for the simplest edits.

September 3, 2013 at 1:04 pm in reply to: OT: SVP to capture uncompressed HDMI

I am by no means an expert in this area.
I would expect to possible problems.
    1) glitch on the signal when switching between sources as the hdmi resyncs.
    2) when you go to power point I would expect you would loose camera audio unless you switcher can handle that.
My first thought would be this.
the HF s-10 records to memory card, just drag that file to a hard drive that has Vegas. Then I would look into Computer screen capture software or power point to movie conversion software.
Drag that file to your Vegas hard drive.
Put the camera with audio on the top track, the powerpoint movie on the lower track. and just pull the power point bits you need up over the first track.
I couldn’t see this taking more than a few minutes to do on even a complex project. It saves a lot of hassles, and expense, and you get to have continuous audio from your camera.
    Just my 2 cents

    John
I can’t figure out how to get 60 Frm .mov to playback half speed pulled down. With my 30 frame I set playback rate to .999 I get 29.97.
Great this is crisp and smooth. But I can’t see a playback rate I can set that will play back 60 at 29.97. Closest value I can see is .499 which will equal 29.94.
I guess I’ll have to go to PNG Seq. I had posted month’s ago that Seq PNG at 1920 for long sequences was really pulling down Vegas. If I remember correctly you didn’t think this should be the case and ran your own test and realized that a big long PNG does really kill the frame rate on preview.( Don’t think it helps My animations are rendered 1920, and my video is 1440 HDV)
Unless there is something i’m missing on playback rate I’ll just re-render these animations at half speed. I do wish there was some way to just alter the data in the .mov file to reflect 29.97 with out re compressing the image.
I’m really trying to be uncompromising on the animation footage. I want these clips to be sharp on a Iphone, and so far I’ve been successful.
Thanks again for your wisdom, and help. I know you are also an audio guy. This project is about analog tape machines. I’ll send you a link to view it free when I’m done which I hope is soon.
    Thanks again

    Excellent!
    Thank You
Was looking around in the text color settings, Maybe I overlooked something but I didn’t see where I could set the color using that numerical format. I did some googling to see if there was a conversion and I didn’t find any. ( Though I did learn that that is the red in color bars)
    Thanks again
