  • Red colored text Jagged

I’m working on a project that has color coded schematics.
I need to add some text in colors to match the schematic.
I assume using red is a no no due to the results I am getting.
Red text appears jagged against background when rendered.
The other colored text is fine.
Any pros out there have any suggestions? I’ve tried a couple different text outlines. So far no luck when rendered. ( current render Ipad 720 or 1080)
I expect the response to be don’t use red. I just thought I’d see if there were any tricks. ( I can shift the color a bit )
    Thanks in advance.

Pure red is s a definite no no.
Set it to 180-16-16 and you’ll be fine.

    Mike
    Excellent!
    Thank You
Was looking around in the text color settings, Maybe I overlooked something but I didn’t see where I could set the color using that numerical format. I did some googling to see if there was a conversion and I didn’t find any. ( Though I did learn that that is the red in color bars)
    Thanks again

[Brad Leigh] “Maybe I overlooked something but I didn’t see where I could set the color using that numerical format. I did some googling to see if there was a conversion and I didn’t find any.”

    Here is the conversion:

Mike was using RGB values that older version DirectX plug-ins of Vegas Pro use. These have a range of 0-255. Newer versions of OFX plug-ins for Vegas Pro use values between 0..1 so you need to use a percentage calculation to get the fraction.

    180 / 256 = 0.70
    16 / 256 = 0.06

… so the RGB values 180, 16, 16, 255 become 0.70, 0.06, 0.06, 1.0. Paste those values in and you’ll get the “legal” RED that Mike was referring to.

Brad, I’m glad I was able to help. I forgot about the new (and useless) numbering system that Vegas now uses. Glad you used color bars as that’s where I got the numbers from.

Actualy Sony had nothing to do with that. It’s required by the industry standard OFX plug architecture that Sony is now using and it’s independent of any color encoding scheme so it is not limited to only 16 million colors like with 0..255. Any NLE that conforms to the OFX standard will use these values. They are just a percentage. I find it much clearer to think in terms of a color being 70% red, 6% green, and 6% blue rather than 180 red, 16 green, 16 blue. 😉
