December 10, 2012 at 7:51 pm in reply to: Vegas crashes when exporting to quick time .mov

I know I’m jumping in late here but this thread crosses over an issue I currently have. I animate in Carrara Pro. I import into Vegas Pro 10 (I own 11 but was afraid to install because 10 runs great).
I can’t use Carrara Pro 8 64 bit because I was using using Quicktime animaton codec to render. There is no ” Real” 64 bit Quicktime for windows from what I understand. I don’t even see it as a render option when I open the 64 Bit version, but I do see when I open the 32 bit version of Carrara. I’ve had crashes during render (in Carrara) and beleive quicktime is the problem because it will render to 100% then fail to finish or crash.
If you guys are using Quicktime in 64 bit vegas, how does vegas get around the fact there is no 64 bit Quicktime for Windows7.
Or do I just have this all wrong?
    Thanks

I can do that. Does a folder import act as a single clip in vegas? I would have to resync the audio not a big deal but one more thing to keep track of. Does it bog vegas down? This video is about 1 hour, maybe 40% HD animation. are the folder sizes going to get just insane?

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot.

    Yup thats what I did.
After spending a lot of time timing the animation to the voice over it disappointing to have to respot it by eye. I was also concerned because some H.264 .mov files were correct duration but 25 frames out of sync. That issue I’ve seem other people post but no clear answer.

I have a guess what it is, I don’t think that audio clip was placed at 00:00 in the carrara session. I’ll bet the render to animation codec only renders the audio portion and not audio from 00. Maybe somehow in the container Quick time recognizes the late start, but maybe Vegas on import moves it up to the beginning of the clip it comes up short and loops it. Don’t know just a guess. I’ll try to add some dead air up front on my audio files I put in Carrara so I have more control where my animation starts
    Thanks

I’ll jump in here as well.
Some months ago John pointed me to The QT animation codec for rendering beautiful crisp animations from Carrara, which I import and edit in Vegas.
    Thanks John

If it’s good enough for you I’ll give it another shot. I had just spent 5 hours rebuilding my computer with clean installs ( geez I learned to restore discs aren’t as good as a mac either ) I cut about a minute and I half off the computers boot time. So when I rebooted the next day and my boot time was way up, and then saw it was acronis I was mad. I looked at the controls which seemed a little oversimple and cartoony and I didn’t see an obvious way to schedule or turn off auto backup or load on boot ( wasn’t in start menu )My judgement may have been premature. At least I know someone I trust thinks it’s good stuff. I’ll give it another shot.
    Thanks

Again thank you. I’ll give it a shot, and I feel much more comfortable installing Cararra on my fast machine. My animations have quite a bit of movement and are close to photo realistic ( but it is a big black background ) so I was going to experiment with key frames. From what I see 1 per second seems to be what people are doing. Do you agree?
    Thank You Again
    and Happy Thanksgiving!
