AC powered gear does not become “damaged” by reversing the outlet power plug wires.
For decades, many amps had a built-in switch that did just that to allow for the elimination of ground loops.
You obviously would not want to send the “AC hot” up the green ground wire, but swapping the white and the black won’t “cook” the gear.
If you’ve lost gear over the years, I wouldn’t suspect swapped white and black wires to your power regulators as the reason.
