A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).

I just finished slogging (hip-deep) through the abysmal commercials as-played from my Tivo recording of the Super Bowl.
I found no audio problems here in the Kansas City (KCTV) market, so it was not coming from the network incorrectly.
Don’t know why you heard problems where you were watching.

These are not particularly “low-cost” devices.
(That’s why I said “if you HAVE ONE.”)They are usually rack-mount units with XLR ins and outs.
You can sometimes find them USED for around $100-$250 or so (I got one for $85 at a pawn shop), but you’d have to just be lucky enough to find one available.

Sure.
A compressor/limiter will do what you want.
If you HAVE ONE, that is.
You’d use it inserted in the audio channels on the mixer coming from your deck.

This is such a specialized and time-consuming aspect of video post production that virtually all major projects are sent to a dedicated AUDIO POST facility just for sweetening and music additions.
If that is not an option… I know that anyone in this business has (over the passage of time) has spent HOURS doing ‘music searches’… that’s just how it works.
And the audio post-production aspect can add nearly as much time to the edit as the video decisions.
I own many “buy-out” music packages and I spend some of my “off-time” (not in an edit) just listening to the cuts and creating my own computer list of impressions as to what kind of situations I could be using the individual tracks.

You can try it and see how it looks.
Since you are “zooming IN” on the shot, you won’t even need to “crop” it, as the other areas at the edge of the frame will simply move off-screen.
So just size/scale up the shot, re-position it and see what you think.It will degrade the image, that’s a given.
‘How much’ is the only consideration.Another choice is to put some kind of decorative “box” around the outside of the frame and just MOVE your off-center shot(s) and not “zoom in” on them at all.
