This is all bull.
Even EOL, adrenaline is still a good tool. (I’ve bought one, new, few months ago)
Perhaps people are selling them, but there are a hell of a lot less on ebay than in daily use.

Go to the FCP forum, and see how many problems people are having over there.

Wait and buy the latest newest product of anything, and be the first one to find out that not all bugs are documented, and that the new featureas actually do not work as advertised.

Avid is still a major player. Funny is all around here it’s Avid vs FCP.
We also have:
Premiere, M100, Vegas, DPS velocity (now Harris), Quantel stuff, Building4Media, IVSedit (and a lot more, these just popped up).
Bollywood seem full of DPS stuff, and i’ve NEVER seen any Nigerian editor around here, while Nigeria has the #3 largest film industry of the world. Don’t know what’s used there, but do you think they edit VHS?

Never heard of the Newtek Flyer…
I started out with Amigas, in my last job we had some 24 bits board that could do stills with millions of colors, and it had COMPONENT OUT!!!!
Of course we also had a Targa Video board, connected (component) to a laserdisc recorder to do frame by frame anim recording (driven by a 286).
We once outputted an 30 sec, anim, rendered in a school with a lot of Macs and brought to us on floppy. (yes, we could read Mac files on PC even back then) Uncompressed of course, as image compression was sin back then. 750 floppy discs. Only two failed and had to be re-send.
A year or two later i started my own business and bought a Radius Video Vision and a mac 8100, 4 gig of RAID 0 harddisk and some Ram. Premiere 4.01, could output an EDL with two keys over a dissolve, and a BVE 910 could read it flawless.
But, not the best system back then, just the only one i could afford. (well, not really, it costed more than a year income)

After that came a Nubus M100, and that was true broadcast. Still got a lot of material from that 80 Mhz system in my showreel. No one can tell the difference. Not in image quality, not in effects 🙂

Nope, in theory every input that has a valid VIDG should work.
You can capture to any codec you want, but staying native to the input will give the best results.

Mind the ‘theory’, i have NOT tested it yet, but you’re welcome to get a demo version.

Download Subbits from my site.
Install the text plugin that comes with it. This is the free part 🙂

Before you buy it, run it and try. (the demo is identical to the paid product, with the exception that you are limited to 8 titles on export.)

Subbits can read PAC files, and it can translate them to FCP XML. You end up with EDITABLE titles in FCP.

There is a little trick to get it working, you first have to make a template in FCP using the included text generator. (this defines the look of all your subs)

uneducated guess, if you put the proper graphic board in it will work just fine for SD. I’ve ran MC / mojo on a way slower system. (And i have run NLE’s on 80 Mhz single proc machines with a whopping 64 MB of RAM iirc, installed from a floppy as these systems did not have a CD-ROM. Broadcast video output though, aired on PBS…)
No idea on HD. If you are going to do HD, definitly get all the horsepower you can afford.

Thanks for the compliment.
Currently working on a tool that does pulldown removal (AP) on Avi (or QT) and transcodes to any qt codec (including avid).
Transcode time for DV AVI to DV Avid codec, app. 20 times FASTER than RT. (iow, Atlantis, eat your heart out).

And as a real bonus, the ability to import rendered files in Avid WITH TIMECODE AND REELNAME (and other metadata if needed)

for the bad news, this won’t be a freebee…

No idea why it would not render, but two questions:
What is wrong with rendering and playing out?
Why use the effect in the first place? If you know it’s illegal, you got a scope/waveform.
If you do, use the CC tools to do it the right way.

You want a Mojo.
Other transcoders work if you do DV only, but the delay between the image and the timeline will drive you nuts.
If you want a cheap monitor, pick up a used CRT video monitor.
