You cannot have AUX timecode in an EDL afaik.
And even if you could, it has no value as there is no relation between your manual entered AUX TC and the actual file, unless you copy as OMF or so. (Dunno if OMF supports aux TC, i’m not a sound guy).
You could alter all tc’s to be the same as aux tc, but what is the point? What are you trying to do, probably there is an easier way than typing your fingers off changing everything…

Yes, that’s very easy.
If you have a decent TC calculator, convert to frames, do the .1 % difference on the frames, go back to TC.
If you don’t, i’m sure there are a lot online. Just check them before commiting yourself to an evening of tc typing…

Even if you’re not a programmer, you can write this yourself in Excel.

I could make an app that converts an entire edl in the blink of an eye, but that will take me an hour or two, and i’m swamped for the next couple of days.
How many events are we talking about?

I’ve noticed that when you have an interlaced clip, intepreted as such and render out to interlaced you’ll loose sharpness.
The same clip rendered as progressive to progressive stays the same.
Now you can only pull this trick if you don’t do any scaling or rotation on interlaced material.
You can do a repos, but only by an even number of pixels, or you will change field dominance.

Both TC’s are correct.
There is a 0.001 speed difference between 23.976 and 24 fps, based on 0 as a starting point.

Do not think 23.976 is the same as 24 in all cases.

It’s easy enough to script a conversion routine if needed, but best is (as always) not to convert half way during post.

Please do not see my comments as negative for you work!
It’s great for those who need it. (And perhaps i’m becoming one of them, as i process tons of individual clips trough AE…)
Faster than RT is quite impressive for AE. (I’m from the time that AE comps without any effect can not playback RT)
How do you do it so fast?
(My app works by taking a downscaled sample of the image, and compare color differences against a threshold. A trick to make it faster (for long form, probably not interesting for you) is to compare the current image to an image a second or so further. If that is the same, you have saved yourself some frames to process. Another (for me) quite important option is to make a jump after a cut is found, so dissolves / fast movement will not result in a huge amount of unwanted cuts.

Last but not least, since you are the scriptmaster, interested in earning a bottle of booze of your choice?

Huh?
Granted, AE has some nice feature set, but to CC an entire movie, being able to have RT playback to see noise, instant feedback on a client monitor and hardware scopes/waveform, i couldn’t live without. Outputting to tape without render is of course also a huge timesaver. (I CC on a MC…)
Besides, an average 20 min. show over here has about 200 shots.
having an 200 layer AE composition, combined with travelling mattes/wipes etc. for partial correction seems a bit impractical. How do you set up such a project?

Perhaps new for AE, but for Avid and FCP there is already a nice solution.
(Handy if you have to do CC’ing on a finished master without and EDL handy…)
By Automatic Duck to AE was already an option.
Dunno how fast this script is, my app. is app. 4x faster than RT… (depending on input, settings, cpu, drive speed etc.)

Well, on a scale of 1 to 10, i rate my Adrenaline 7.
No RT downconvert of 720P material, as i just found out.
Adrenaline is nothing more than an IO box. And yes, it’s a darn expensive one nowadays. But, i’ve bought a full blown MC system for way less than my Xpress Elite meridien system.
As for Avid advertisements, before buying i got an invitation to come to Avid Netherlands, where the general manager gave me a demonstration, and i was free to testdrive any feature.
No hidden surprises for me.

For 45K, what would you buy that has the same feature set / stability / support (well, Avid netherlands support is excellent) and user base with know-how and workarounds?
For the next period i’m not switching. If i need to use FCP (i have a full blown FCP rig), i would do it. But the moment i get a choice (and i always do :-), i prefer Avid.

Only serious drawback of Avid for me, is the lack of XML or other language to automate stuff.
