on the current MAC G5’s, slot 2 and 3 are PCI slots and slot 4 is the PCI-X 133MHz slot.Bob Zelin

as a matter of fact, if you have an ATTO UL4D (for example), you SHOULD put the UL4D in the PCI-X slot and put the Kona LS in the standard PCI slots (2 or 3).

Anything is possible, but Leitch makes an excellent SPG (it is new, isn’t it? It’s not some 25 year old Leitch SPG from ebay is it? ). If this is a “relatively new” Leitch black generator, and you are using BLACK, and not sync to feed your equipment, you may have an issue with the Kona 2, and you should #1 – check the black signal with a waveform monitor, and once you do that, #2 – contact AJA support about your problem.

to my limited knowlege, the Multibridge is NOT multitasking, and will not cross convert between 1080i and 720p

without going into a 20 page description, if you have 2:3:3:2 pulldown on your VTR (like the Panasonic AJ-HD1200A, or the Sony JH-3), your program will play out at 59.94 into the FCP system, so you will NOT edit in 24p mode, and you DO NOT need tri level sync. You only need tri sync if you are working in 23.98 or 24p mode, and unless you are finishing for theatrical release, I see no reason to do this. A nice boring black generator will work just fine, as long as you keep your material at 59.94, and not 23.98.
The Multibridge Studio WILL have tri level sync. The only times I have been forced to use a tri level sync gen (like the Evertz 7750, or the Ensemble or the Astro Systems) is when someone ACCIDENTALLY wound up with 24p tapes and
a VTR like the HDW-M2000/10, which DOES NOT HAVE 2:3 pulldown as an option. THEN you need tri level sync.Bob Zelin

Audio/Video settings, deck control tab- make sure Kona 2 is selected, and not something else. If Kona is selected, drag a deck (like a Beta) next to the Kona system, and plug it in. I don’t know if the ballistics are differnt for the XDCam.

you probably have a problem with the SATA host card. I use Firmtek and Sonnet SATA hosts in slots 2 and 3 all the time with no issues.
