  • Manual output of color bars.

    Hi, folks

I’ve got a customer who’s into the habit of recording color bars from FCP timeline manually to the digibeta and he’s getting jumpy video all the time. However, edit to tape works fine. He has a LS running 1.1.4 drivers on a dual 2.5Ghz with 2Gb ram and a Huge raid. FCP version is 5.0.3 on OS 10.4.3.

Reference is set to video-in instead of ref-in on the Kona control panel. Ref-in shows up jerky video for some reason. FYI he has a Leitch SPG. If I’m not wrong, the SPG output should go to the genlock of the Kona card and the ref-in of the digibeta deck.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Cheers !

reference should NOT be in Video In – it should lock in Ref IN, and NOT be jumpy. I strongly advise you to contact AJA support, as you obviously have an excellent black generator.

    Thanks !

Is that case could the SPG be faulty ?

Anything is possible, but Leitch makes an excellent SPG (it is new, isn’t it? It’s not some 25 year old Leitch SPG from ebay is it? ). If this is a “relatively new” Leitch black generator, and you are using BLACK, and not sync to feed your equipment, you may have an issue with the Kona 2, and you should #1 – check the black signal with a waveform monitor, and once you do that, #2 – contact AJA support about your problem.
