Try opening FCP and selecting Import>Sony XDCam. Click on your sXS card. The clips should appear in the window. Click in the window, select all and then import in the bottom left.
If this does not work try reinstalling xdCam transfer and clip browser. they can be a little klugy.
Dont forget to copy the entire BPAV folder to a hard drive.

Peter,
Shoot some footage and upload and make sure you know what you are doing before you start. Read the directions for XDCam Transfer and Clip Browser and try them out before to make sure your workflow is what you want it to be. It is not unintuitive but if you have never done it before I would try it first.
How much more is a Mac laptop than a PC laptop? If you are more comfortable with Mac I would spend the extra money.

I have three cameras and am getting three more soon. Plus I don’t need portability.

He explained to me that Sonnet doesn’t initiate driver development but that the application would develop the drivers. I think that makes sense although it is way above my video producer mind.
That eFilms device looks a little kluge but I like it. I think I will get one. I will let you know how it works out. Still USB though.

Thanks for your swift reply.
I have spoken numerous times with a very nice customer support person at Sonnet. He guided me to the place hidden in the product literature where it says not compatible with 64 bit. He has also talked to the engineers for me and there are no plans for 64 bit compatibility. It is a drink holder. I suppose I could use it’s multiple slots as dry storage.
I always use CRC to put onto my BU Hard Drive. I am not in enough of a hurry to not do the safest thing. I had my first error with CRC today and re-ingested the whole card to be safe. It worked. But if the interface was faster I assume CRC would be faster also. I would also like to be able to set 3 or 4 cards at the same time and have them batch but that is not happening with this set-up.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Maybe Ian can tell me about the new Sony product they are developing for this purpose. Ian?

When I first started using my EX1r I noticed the Auto White Balance was extremely reactive in that it did actually change color temperature every time it sensed a new light source…which is what it is supposed to do. I solved the problem by picking a White Balance and sticking with it.

This is very interesting…so nothing ever breaks on a “pro” camera? Because that certainly WOULD make it worth the extra money.

I agree that all of the things you talk about are a pain. I think that Sony and their dealers need to a better job of explaining XDCam and the FCP workflow and have expressed this to my dealer.
I do like having full HD for $6300.00 (EX1r). I also like not having tape anymore although deep inside I do feel like I am going to get burned using SDHC cards eventually.
Is FCS4 imminent?

Your message is a little confusing. Are you attaching the camera to the MacBook Pro with USB? Which size MacBook Pro? You are using SDHC cards and an adapter? There are many alternative situations here. If you have a MacBook Pro 17″ you can put the card and its adapter directly into the Mac. If it is 15″ or lower the SDHC card can go directly into the SDHC port. Do you have all of the latest Sony drivers and the latest version of XDCam Transfer? You can also use a standard card reader connected by USB.
I think we need more details here.
