The “best editing software of them all”?

See…my feeling is that everything works…until it doesn’t. And then I would feel negligent that I didn’t have the latest firmware. I am trying to get Sony to come here and do it so that I don’t have to be without cameras for a long period of time. My dealer will provide me with one loaner at a time but it is still a pain.

Or you could do that….

I have an XLR splitter that I use when I want to record one mic to both channels but you can also record to one channel and fix it in post. I also like to record ambient sound to the other channel using the internal mic. It can come in handy.

I have 3 that are about 3 months old with 1.0 that I am in the process of upgrading and I am getting 3 more, one of which was delivered today with 1.1.1. I am most interested in how they work with SDHC cards and adapters although I have not had a problem yet. I love the cameras. The picture quality is amazing for the price. I am especially happy with the quality of the still frames I can get.
I do Product Research Testing for a major retail goods company. We record about 6 hours a day of consumer test footage. I back up all of my BPAV files to hard drive and then use Final Cut Server to store and distribute the footage to my Product Researchers. So far so good although it has only been a few months.

I am getting ready to do it with 3 cameras so I would like to hear also. Just had the first of three delivered today with version 1.1.1 but have not had a chance to use it. I will let you know if it is any different. Of course, I have not had any problems with the old version.

You can buy 32GB SDHC cards for $65.00 each. Consider buying 10 or even 20 of these and keeping all of your footage on these until you you are able to download and back them up correctly. It is cheaper than a new laptop.

I would assume that Mac users are more likely to have Flip for Mac because they always have to deal with WMV’s and a Mac user is more likely to try and make it work than a PC user is.
Unfortunately Craig most computer users are not as sophisticated as you and I. They only want their computers to do what they need them to do and do not want to have to worry about them. As my boss told me the other day, “make sure it runs on my computer because that is the worst you are going to find”.
I am in the information delivery business, not the marketing business.

In other words, you can’t do what you want to do. I have very uneducated end users when it comes to viedo, quicktime, windows or otherwise. They want the file to run and they don’t want to have to download anything to make it run. Unfortunately I distribute everything to them by WMV’s because it is what their old, non-updated PC’s like.
I encode my HD files to 960×540, with a bit rate of 1500. two pass highest quality you can probably get away with with a 1GB stick. They look great (or as well as can be expected). But more importantly they always run.
