How does that limit the volume change to apply only to the loudest parts of the audio? That is the usual reason for adding points to the envelope.

April 14, 2010 at 2:53 am in reply to: 5DMARKII footage to lay out across tracks based of creation time stampIf you are trying to line up the footage of two or three cameras shooting at the same time, the 5D II surely does not supply that kind of time synch signal. The setting of the 5D II clock is not that precise, and, when Canon adds that feature to a video camera, the price is boosted by at least $1,000.

My backup software, Norton Ghost, can restore things on a file by file basis. You don’t need to restore the entire system.

You probably have had Vegas 7 for quite awhile. You should be able to recover the codec from your last system backup.

You need to supply a lot more information. Among other things, which version of Vegas are you using, how many different videos are being rendered to produce the final output, what is the format of each of these videos, what effects are being applied and where are they applied, and what is the intended use for the rendered video? Also, how many hard drives are in your system, and how are they being used during the render?
I can tell you that I routinely render with a slower system than yours. Mine can routinely render a 1 hour video to a DVDA mpeg format in 12-13 hours. That one hour video is composed of two video tracks where the output video alternates back and forth from one track to the other. Both tracks have color correctors, brightness/contrast, and color curves applied. They both also use pan/crop to constantly zoom in and out modestly. One of the tracks has fairly strong sharpening applied. The render is done at a high quality level. I do have three fairly large internal hard drives so that rendering is not done on the system drive.

I would give up the updating. I have a sneaky hunch that Apple may want to break competitive applications. I don’t know why Sony continues to rely on quick time.
-
What happened was that you updated quick time. It sounds like your version of Vegas does not work with what you just installed.
-
Certainly. You simply apply a mask to the adjustment layer. The mask will restrict its effects to the areas of the image that you designate.

Not if you have saved the project today. When you save, the previous project file is copied to the backup. That would be the veg file that was used to open the project today, or something subsequent to that. I ALWAYS back up ALL my changed files at the end of the day. That includes both the veg and the veg backup file.

A yellow exclamation point indicates a problem with the controller. The standard correction steps probably include checking for new drivers, uninstall, and reinstall the controller. If Windows can’t see the camera, Vegas will not see it either.
