Sometimes the temp Folder for the computer becomes overloaded.

Go to the Windows Explorer address and type in %temp% go to Temp Folders and click “DELETE” ???????????????????????

Ideally card should have a min speed of 38.5mbps ( this what the camera writes at) or more say Sandisk Extreme IV. However, if you have an Image Stablized lens on the 5D , turn off the IS when on a tripod. Always pan smoothly, according to Canon Australia the Canon 70-200 mm is the only lens with a horizontal stablizer and you may have some movement of the pixels in panning. We now use a 28-135mm Canon IS lens for all 1920 x 1080 Pal @25fps video and have just come back from Tibet and China with broadcast quality video out of Premier Pro editing to pro tape. We find the L Series Pro lens are too heavy to hand hold, in any case the stabilizer in Premiere will fix any slight movement.

Or buy a Firewire card and install, about $50. Check specifications of computer if you intend to do High Definition ?

A 1,000 GB would be better, our old computer worked on 400Gb but, you will need to get rid of temp files %temp% in Windows explorer window, that is to get rid of temp files easily, at one stage we had 1,443 rendered mov files there, not a good look, and then operating on a mere 15Gb, you cannot defragment which is esential with HD H264 mov files.

Ps Sorry, 1,000Gb hard Drive. Ram , well we got away with 2GB and it worked, but, now have 12GB RAM

As far as I know you can only Capture the HV30’s HDV via a IEEE 1394A Card to Premiere Pro , it will show the download via it’s LCD and then open in the Project window. The USB2 connection is only for still images, we have been using the HV20 upgraded by Canon Technical for over 3 years now and there has never been a problem with quality, we even use this videocamcorder as a VTR for Exporting the output of the Canon 5D mark II to professional tape from Premiere Pro at 1440 x 1080p and then played into a Sony Bravia 46″ via the HDMI input.

The result is Broadcast Quality.

It works very well provided you have the camera strap firmly locked around the back of the neck and pulled tightly to the camera. see handling instructions from Canon. Even without this provided you hold the camera firmly you will hardly notice much movement, you will improve with practice. Without the inbuilt IS the smooth running it not the best, never try to use the F2.8 35-70mm L Pro lens , it is too heavy for video work without a tripod.
