It works very well provided you have the camera strap firmly locked around the back of the neck and pulled tightly to the camera. see handling instructions from Canon. Even without this provided you hold the camera firmly you will hardly notice much movement, you will improve with practice. Without the inbuilt IS the smooth running it not the best, never try to use the F2.8 35-70mm L Pro lens , it is too heavy for video work without a tripod.

The stablizer IS is in most Canon Professional and other lenses , it is not in the camera. And, it does work , I have been using these Image stablized lens for over 12 months, and the video does not need stablizing in Adobe premiere Pro., but, of course that is a possibility.
Check to see that the lens you buy have the Image Stablized logo on the lens.If the 70-200 mm does not have it , do not use it.Ps. I believe some 70-200 mm IS lens have a horizontal stablizer to get rid of the jello look when you pan, check it out. And always pan slowly, real slow.

No idea, but, what else could you want except a zoom motor in the lens and then you would have a camcorder.
Our video out of Tibet/China a month ago was sensational and edited very well in Premiere Pro,I don’t think you will get a 35mm sensor in a camcorder any time soon, but, who knows.
We have been using this camera for over 12 months and frankly the stills are superb too, for fashion , art etc
If you don’t want to spend a lot of money try the Canon HV 40, we use it to transfer as a VTR from the 5D Mark II in High Definition Tape to check quality on a Sony 46″ HD TV on the HDMI Input and we lose little in quality .

Use auto settings, say 1/50 sec and let it choose own aperture as well as ASA or ISO. never had this problem in 12 months operation on any shoot in New Zealand, Egypt, Tibet or China for travel, low light or fashion or art display ?Green lines are an example of tape problems on HD camcorders not H264 mov files in 1920 x 1080 pixels out of the 5D mark II

Turn off the image stablizer and see what happens, and then send the body andlens back to canon, may be caused by radio interference if both lens do the same thing in the same position.

Turn the High Pass Filter HPF on both sides of the ON-OFF switch ON and make sure you have pushed the connector into the 35mm plug firmly.

Turn the IS on for one thing, you probably have? Hang on to it firmly and do not wave it around, obvious, hand held should be Ok , but, you can stabilize in software if not too bad>

It does work very well with the Canon HV 20 but , needs a 3.5mm Stereo Mini Jack Plug which is on this videocamcorder, you may be lucky ?

Jay, Check with Canon Service , but, I believe that the 1440 x 1080 P HD codec is the only one Canon uses ?????????????????
