Have you tried capture by Firewire IEEE 1394A in to say Premiere Pro, ignore the blue screen on the camera. There could be a play back problem into the LCD or viewfinder ?????????????

Well that worked , but, not as easy as the razor tool in Premiere Pro.
But, Vegas has some advantages, especially Image stabilization included. I’ll keep working on it .My computer set up is similar, but, been with Adobe PP for 6 years, may change ?PS .I am just up in Toowoomba

I shoot only 1920 x 1080p with this camcorder and have only noticed “grain” in low level lighting situations and edit in Premiere Pro, I do not think there is a way round this. You could try Tv set speed at 1/50 or lower, aperture wide open, do not use cinema mode. Good luck. PS. use pro tape only not consumer tape.

Use 1/50 sec mostly, pan slowly, no issues with 25fps i ,I never use progressive in editing the camera does that. Canon sell a special panning lens the EF L Pro 70-200 mm for horizontal panning but, you can get rid of any break up (that is unstable pixels moving out of sync) using an Image Stabilized Lens like the 35-135 mm IS EF. I have had no issues after using this lens hand held, turn off IS if using tripod. the f stop should not matter, the panning speeds from Peter may help ?

Well the Rode Stereo Mike X/Y Condenser does work very well on the Canon 5D Mark II and the Canon HV20/30/40 but, you may need to set the volume manually , or check before you use it on the little Canon, it does connect and does work

Yes, but, nothing like what you describe, Canon Produce a f2.8 EF IS 70-200mm L lens which would apparently get rid of any panning issues, i use the IS 28-135mm f3.5 lens for most video work at 1/50 sec, it is usually very smooth. I have used this camera for 2.5 years without nay rolling shutter problems.

Have used the Canon 5D Mark II for 2.5 years no problems except the H.264 mov clips may cause some issues in editing, they are very large. Unlike Camcorders there is no zoom motor,but, the cost of a similar quality 35mm sensor on a Camcorder can be very high, and then of course the range of high quality EF IS 35mm Lens on the 5D is exceptional.The exposure ISO rating is exceptional.The stills from this camera is simply stunning, use RAW Mode.

Check setting Exposure Compensation Page 96 especially (3) Set the power switch to <–> and while looking at the viewfinder or LCD, turn the Dial on the back of the camera.

It is clear as crystal in the manual, but, go to ON control on the back of the camera and move the indicator to the -line above , half press the fire camera button as if to take a photo>turn control wheel above ON/OFF switch > watch Exposure Indicator on LCD window above AF On Button and adjust to -1,-2 or +1, or +2 and return on/off switch to>on , the compensation should be in effect, do not forget to return to 0 when not needed, I have used exposure compensation for over 2.5 years and mainly leave it at -1 to remove overexposure of highlights in high contrast situations.

This works in all modes, I think ? ,but, I never use Full Automatic mostly Tv where I set the speed at 1/50 mainly for smooth running of the HD Video. If you get overexposure here you can change the speed with no issues.

Ps. You should experiment with Canon Digital Professional Software that came with the camera, it is superior to Adobe, which I have used for over 15 years. make sure you download all the up-dates from Canon for this including the updates for the Canon 5 D mark II which is now at 2.0.9 It is also worthwhile looking at Canon’s Zoom Browzer which has amateur facilities for H.264mov files ?
My son is a MAC user but, finds iMovie is better than anything else when editing H.264 from the Canon 5D mark II
