    Ehem…

    21-0.

    Roll Tide.

    That is all.

I think Blackmagic’s battery situation cuts down a bit on its mobility. External batteries aren’t as clean to deal with. Everything I do is on location, so it is something I would have to address. My 2 cents.

It is only the first attempt to wade into the DSLR market with a dedicated video product at that price point and quality (supposedly), so there is sure to be more to come. I would wait to see what comes next.

  • I mean the ‘power beasts’ you are referring to. Everything they are making is trending smaller and lighter. All the rumors (for what they are worth) suggest the beasts that are left are on the way out.

  • We’ll see what happens this year, but so far all evidence suggests Apple does not care about selling that kind of hardware.

  • I think the name works. I may be wrong, but even if Apple doesn’t end up revolutionizing NLEs and changing the way we work, they certainly lit a fire under some folks to get us thinking and agitating about it more. Instead of just riding in the cart, we’ve picked up the whip and starting hitting the developers. So FCPX really could end up changing everything in post! Not in the way they might have wanted, but still a win.

Oh, no… I’ve learned my lesson about buying an NLE on the first day it’s released. There are elements in there I’m pretty interested in, but I’m not in GOTTA HAVE IT! mode just yet. Perhaps I have also learned not to get excited about this sort of thing.

  • Sounds familiar. Although I’m not sure if compound clips per se is the cause. A short time lapse brought my X to the same grinding halt. The compound clips were a big reason I liked X (while it worked). It’s a pity to have to avoid them, but now that I’ve got tabbed sequences again (among other things), I’m good.

    You don’t need persistent in/out markers…

These aren’t the reference points you’re looking for…

    Move along.

  • “US corporations are required by law to act in the best interests of their stockholders.”

I understand your larger point, but not exactly. For one, and this is just semantics, but the stockholders and the corporation are one and the same. But I know what you mean… The agents of management are charged to act in the owner’s interest, but only as that interest is defined by the owners. There are numerous legal operating/reporting requirements (OSHA, EEOC, DOL, SEC, etc), but nothing that says the actual decisions and actions must be in anyone’s particular interest.

You’re right about the rest. It is a balancing act, but I believe toward one goal: to keep and/or add customers.

  • A business should not operate for the interest of its employees, but for the interest in its customers.
