what version of 5.5 do you have? is it xs with the real time static titles? and also, just curious, for your machine control, you should just connect the remote cable directly to the serial port and avoid usb altogether… unless you have the blue and white G3 which did ship with built in usb.
Try reinstalling CG studio / media 100 again, close any other applications, allocate more memory to media 100, and trash preferences. Boy its been a while

March 9, 2006 at 6:43 pm in reply to: Media 100i version 8.2.3 – M100HD compatibilty… not!yea i dont get that… you’ve always been able to open i projects in HD, but not the other way around. from the way it was stated it sounded like you can go from HD to i, maybe if it was an SD only project and x layers of graphic tracks.

i experienced the same problem when installing RED on HD. easy solution – download and install the lates boris red patch. It addresses the media100 field dominance issue specifically.

ive done everything you’ve said except the audio part. i do need audio with my renders. it still looks like it a deinterlaced image being projected only showing the first field only. im not sure what to try next

im not having any issues only because i didnt know the video out preview function worked with media100 board. At least since we installed the codecs, that is. Is it still possible to get a video preview from after effects to the media100 card? this would help because all i can do now is prewiew through firewire and the gamma is way off, so it is kind of pointless.

are you talking about something like a sony1024? yes. you can get an S-output and composite out into your media 100 and adjust your image (usually powerpoint) to fit inside broadcast safe areas. I only use this method if i need to record live builds and animations from powerpoint. if it is just static slides, you can export them out of powerpoint , resize them in photoshop and get pretty good looking results there. Sometimes really saturated colors do not translate very well, but you can usually get a sharper picture if you keep it all digital.
I’ve also use an old Panasonic MX50 panasonic switcher to act as a frame syncronizer for digitizing rough VHS footage. There is a very slight audio delay because of the video processing, but it is very minimal. I’ve also used an old JVC frame syncronizer to convert composite, S, and component signals in and out. that worked out pretty well too until the unit started displaying nasty diagonal lines.

Tell us what kind of hardware and software you have ie what media100 version, with or without firewire / what kind of deck you have and how is your deck connected your edit system.
something doesnt sound right… i know this becuase i digitize and master from a DVCAM deck and a BetaSP deck all the time. In your hardware settings, do you have media100 set to firewire for source in? same with audio? have the DV deck connected to the firewire port on the P6000 board? For deck control, make sure you have media100 DV and select a DV deck. You can try and selecting the DSR-20, thats what we use. It may also help to see what your deck is set to record at, make sure it is NDF. Put in your tape and enter digitize mode, you should have deck control at this point and see matching timecode on your deck and edit suite window. Try that . Media100 will digitize NDF material without a problem

So if i have reference files or self contained movies in the media100i codec, they will fast import into media100i now?
-
so you can move files between media100i and media100 hd, sw and HD but not i and sw?

its in the timeline next to the source name (the three little circles between the film and the half-moon). you have to check it on for each layer that you want the motion blur applied to
