I am reviving a Media 100 version 5.5 sytem that lives on a G-3. The editing program works fine and I even resolved the serial to USB machine control issue. However, when I try to open the graphics software from the Edit suite after creating a clip in the timeline, it opens with the CG screen, Page Background and Colors windows, but as soon as I click on any of these windows the CG program closes. I have increased the memory allocation and still can’t get the CG program to stay open. Any suggestions?

what version of 5.5 do you have? is it xs with the real time static titles? and also, just curious, for your machine control, you should just connect the remote cable directly to the serial port and avoid usb altogether… unless you have the blue and white G3 which did ship with built in usb.

Try reinstalling CG studio / media 100 again, close any other applications, allocate more memory to media 100, and trash preferences. Boy its been a while

I have version 5.5.2. I am not sure of the letter designation but it is capable of digitizing at 300kb. It has static titles and a custom feature allowing Boris style moves. I am not sure if it has real time static title capability, since I haven’t seen it work yet. I have reloaded M100, reallocated memory and trashed the preferences.
I researched Creative Cow archives and am working on a possible solution of reloading Quicktime version 4.2.1 instead of QT 5, which the G-3 is using now. It turns out the Media 100 v 5.2.2 CG may not work with QT 5.
FYI, the G-3 is a blue and white one which requires a Keyspan serial to USB converter for the machine control to work properly. The modem port cannot be configured as a serial port.
Thanks for the feedback. Any more suggestions?

I solved the problem by trashing Quicktime 5 and reloading QT 4.1.2. It turns out the CG won’t operate with newer versions of QT. Go figure. Thanks for all the help and advice.
