perhaps the rave is more focused on the the dsr 400k, the 16:9 24P/30P DVCAM camera.I think it is sony’s answer to “Progressive” since is a hot item these days, and their only other camera that can do that is their top of the line 1080 cam.
It is probably a good alternative to those who like Panasonic’s SDX-900 camera which also does 24 in standard def. Obvious differences are that sony’s DVCAM is DV25, and DVCPRO50 is DV50.
And also the price is about half of Panasonics camera about 29k compared to sony’s 14k. I could see a lot of people buying this camera since it is “inexpensive” especially if it does come with the lens, which im pretty sure it does.
Simply put, it is Sony’s response to the growing demamnd of people wanting to shoot film-like videos. I’d get one if they made this 3 years ago.

Ive had success copy-pasting using this method:
Create the look you want in grafitti /fx/red with sample text in all your places.
Apply changes, go back to media 100, then copy and paste that title clip.
Go back to boris using your new copied clip.
Go to your word document, or whatever your pasting from and make sure it’s saved as a .txt file only, then open it up in text edit.
Highlight and copy text from text edit and paste into one of your text containers in boris. Worked for me, i did app. 1500 award winner graphics with moving backgrounds for a show just 2 weeks ago. This was my first year doing this on a media100 i system with real time titles… you could only imagine trying to do this on a pre 7.5 media 100 using cometCG!!! I had to render each graphic out too… I ended up using this machine to play back all the graphics during the 5 sessions, and thanks to the stability of i and os X, i had not one single crash the whole week… truly remarkable.
Anyways, good luck to you on your paste-paste mission.

picked up my copy monday, then took it back to my hotel to find out that its not even on the CD, when you install it it opens up safari and points you to that page, which of course i didnt have or want to pay for internet access. D/Ling it now…
Can i install RED on the beta to do graphics?

Thank you thank you
[Floh] “Btw, you should be able to mix 640 and 720 Media 100 i clips in the same timeline”
btw, floh, i forgot to mention this is on my xs 8.2.2 system. Im assuming that statement refers to 10.0/.1?

upgrading to os x 10.3.8 fixed 10.1 problems for us. Still having a few issues with trimming clips in the timeline though, randomly crashing when i trim clips within timeline, unless i save before i trim… still trying to get to the bottom of it. The projects im having trouble on the ones ive digitized from Beta through the analog card. media100i for some reason is more stable woking with beta stuff than HD is.
if youre already running osx 10.3.8 and somehow solve this problem, let me know.

[Editz] “Who on earth would want to look at that much text on a screen??”
hehe. Its not meant to be watched in entirety, its to be looped playing outside the doors of a ballroom during the week of a convention. the problem is pasting all that text, because its already formatted.

what exactly is containerizing? and when you say paste paste would that be in the same composition or would i have to create many different clips from my NLE and renter RED so many times?
