I second this. goggle for an article by Douglass Spotted Engel that covers this, it is very good.
I haven’t tried the Colour Curves but it sounds a good way of dealing with the washed out colour you can get in low light.

Got you, so I should render to DV 16:9, create another project, add clip and render that to MPEG2 for the DVD. That sounds like a good plan as it actually makes the footage DV, rather than simulates it.
BTW which of the multiple blur/defocus filters would you recommend for this if I went the add a little blur route?

But the DV is 16:9. I just want to remove a bit of sharpness.

Thank for your advice. The video is 1 hour 50 minutes long. Any advice on calculating a bitrate so this will fit would be much appreciated.
Also am I correct in thinking when Rendering As MPEG-2 is one of the fastest to create so even if I want DVDA to render it is a good one to use for DVD. I read somewhere that it was possible to get DVDA to automatically calculate and re-encode but cant find the option. bitrate, how do I do this?

By re-encoding do you mean what DVDA calls rendering? I did find the MPEG-2 DVDA stream template and it still had to render. I will double check audio settings tonight. Any ideas?

I have the same monitor but it does not seem to work as described. Whatever combination I try I don’t seem to be able to get Blue only.

Thanks, it looks like it is a TRIMMER ALIGNMENT TOOL I am looking for. Anyone know anywhere in the UK which sells these, RS have them but they are $89!. I guess I may have to try with a metal screwdriver.

Ime a bit confused by your reply. I was asking how people rate the monitor, what do you mean ‘if ya dig it’, I was kind of asking if you dig it;).

I kind of agree, simply deciding to make everything look like film is often just ‘because film is cool man’. 24p is less frames per second than 50i so it looks a bit jittery when panning. This jittery thing is a look that is associated with film so stylistically people may like it but technically it could be argued as inferior.
However the film look can be very useful. Couple of examples are are
1) End credits with credit roll. I have a shot of a couple of musicians playing and a credit roll over it. Darkening the image makes the text easier to read and doing this with a high contrast film look gives something that looks nice and is dark. Rather than simply looking under exposed.
Another example is flashbacks, film look may be a good visual way of showing flashbacks.
