Making HDV look like DV
Hi everybody,
I am editing a 2 camera shoot that was shot on a PD150 and a Z1. Which Vegas filter is it best to use to soften the HDV image so it cuts better with the DV. I have sharpened the DV footage a bit but the HDV still look a lot sharper, this draws attention to the fact that the DV is softer. There seem to be about 5 filters which blurs/defocus but a quick play has not created anything useful. Thought I would appeal to your combined wisdom;).

You could just render the HDV footage to 4:3 standard TV aspect ratio, DV footage and they should look very close. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

But the DV is 16:9. I just want to remove a bit of sharpness.

You can play with a very small amount of blur, but rendering as DV 16 x 9 will be easier on you system to edit and should look close. Danny Hays

Got you, so I should render to DV 16:9, create another project, add clip and render that to MPEG2 for the DVD. That sounds like a good plan as it actually makes the footage DV, rather than simulates it.
BTW which of the multiple blur/defocus filters would you recommend for this if I went the add a little blur route?
