The Sennheiser HD 215 I have is a full cup headphone and is 32 Ω.

The Sennheiser HD 280 Pro is also full cup but 64Ω.

Are you saying the HD 280 has something about its specific full cup design that makes it cut out background noise massively more then the HD 215?

Yes, that’s what I have heard also and they seem to be popular amongst broadcast camerapersons. I have also heard that the cheaper HDR v6 is as good, the dBw is also shown as 106.

I actually have a pair of Sensitizer HD 215 which are shown as 112 dB/w. They are around half the price so maybe they are not as good from a sound reproduction point of you but currently loudness is my issue so I don’t want to go backwards in this regards.

Thanks, so it is Sensitivity I need to look for.

So the Sony MDR V6 seems to be 106 Db/w and the sennheiser HD 215 I have are 112 dB/W so the Sony would not be as loud for the same input signal. I will carry googeling but any advice would be appreciated.

That kind of helps, I think;) The reason I am asking is because the Sony Z1 video camera puts out feeble level through the headphone output and I am trying to work out if there is a easy way to find how ‘efficient’ headphones are. By efficient I mean how much volume they create for a given signal.

Or maybe there is a inline headphone amp I could use but I would rather not have an extra bit of kit.

Just thought I should mention these will be illegal to use after 2012 (I think its after the Olympics) as the frequencies are changing. Also even before this you should have a license to be fully legal.

Andrew, MPEG streamclip does not recognize the files.

Stephen, L&T complains they are an unknown format.

It is a Canon 550D I am connecting ti to. I also have a Canon HF100. As far as I am aware prosuma, domestic camcorders and DSLR tend to have stereo 3.5mm jacks without phantom power.

I did wait until the end of my first project before I thought about moving from default set-up and its the only thing I want to change. I don’t use a apple mouse and don’t have the problem of trackball getting closed put the wheel does not seem to be mapped to zoom. Any idea how to do this?

It is SD 16:9 I am working with, what I want to do is for the output signal to put black ‘letterbox’ borders. I will have another look at settings. If I change the settings for Blackmagic in Settings do I need to restart FCP?

This works perfectly OOTB with Sony Vegas so I was hoping it would be possible to get it working in FCP.
