I use the XDCAM sequence preset and it plays natively on the BMD hardware without rendering if you use 1080. But if you use 720 it won’t play out on the BMD hardware.

hey Peter if you want to live on the cusp of new technology there is some pain and suffering you have to endure… but my theory is that if earlier version drivers won’t work with later software packages it is a good sign that they have re-worked the interface for the better… but it is Adobe we are talking about here isn’t it…. and they can sometimes send the BMD engineers into a never ending loop!

Sorry I haven’t been to the Premiere forum here for a while but I thought I could add my 2c worth…. I have had EVERY version of Adobe Premiere since 4.0 (still got the discs of all versions) and I got the upgrades as soon as they were released. So this will be the first time I will NOT be upgrading.
This has also got a lot to do with the fact that 3 of my 5 edit suites are now running FCP and thats the way I like it.
The only PLUS I see with CS4 is that it might kick Apple into introducing a few enhancements into their product eg. Xdcam importing natively! Other than that it is the big ho-hum.

If ever you are in SYDNEY AUSTRALIA we do it all the time – that is FCP output to HDCAM. And soon we will be doing it HDCAM-SR with the full 12 channel audio thing. I guess it will be the end of our DA98 digital 8 track machines….

Hey Luke – problem solved with the Mac’s logging onto the workgroup hub!
Just sling me a coupla hundred bucks and I will tell you the solution…
nah just kiddin’ – I will tell you for free; you have to assign the Mac’s a fixed IP address and then it logs onto the workgroup hubs host computer instantly… so its all good here!

As Bob said “…and other things like video games (with CAV to SDI converters)” which means a ‘Composite audio/video converter’, which also applies to any ‘Component audio/video converter’ too. Its just a pity that not many people provide audio embedding with these devices and those that do drive Ferrari’s as they are making so much money out of them!
It begs the question: why are component to SDI/HD-SDI converters so much cheaper that AES to SDI/HD-SDI embedders when there is a much larger bandwidth to encode AND 3 channels of it. Even composite to SDI/HD-SDI are far cheaper, and they have to do a massive decode of the composite into component before it gets A to D’d into the digital stream! Yeah I know I have pealed off the original topic but as Bob also said “it is an UNBEATABLE product” (the broadcast hub) and I have to agree just basing my experience on the 12×24 version of the product… (now if only BMD offered an upgrade deal….)

…and lets be thankful UNDO works the same on both PC and MAC!
My workflow normally is;
1. select clip/clips to delete
2. press delete
3. utter “oooops!”
4. select UNDO
5. press backspaceIts all an automatic response from me now but can be a pain when I am in a real hurry and didn’t notice the ‘ripple’ that may have occured some time back.

I have just finished over 3000 insert edits into a HDW1800 using the latest drivers for the Multibridge Extreme and got 100% accuracy every time.
In another edit suite I have a Decklink HD Pro and get 100% accuracy although I haven’t done 3000 edits. So it just may be what Michael suggests – drivers.Baz
