there is a tutorial in general about each effect, but that’s says alot the same like the “tutorial manual” found on their website.

I really would like to see some advanced tutorials for sapphire, i mean, yeah you can use it in practaly alot of things, but sometimes it’s timeconsuming to link the parameters to other effects for maximum effect.

okey, what I always do when combining AE and PP(most of the time for footage and advanced color correction and simple animation) is the following.
1) cut your footage in PP (and delete the stuff you don’t like) roughly
2) go in AE (you should have find the “list” I made in like 200 post, always the same and very helpfull to everyone) and import your stuff.
3) apply all the things you like(glow, color correction filters etc etc). save
4) import in PP and cut exact, use transitions and export.

Why not cutting exact and use transitions in step 1? I saw in a couple of times that when you use transitions, it sometimes comes in differently in AE (as a seperate layer). most of the time it will work and you can “cut and use transitions” in step one. step “5” will be only exporting in PP 🙂

for real high animation stuff between your footage, this is another story. if there are few, use dynamic link. alot yeah render it out in full quality and import it in AE

for some overview the “list” :

-Edit your clip in Premiere. than save your project.

-open After Effects. file>import, then import your Premiere Pro project file.

-now you see your clips in the project panel and very important a sequence file (it’s called that way I thought).

-double click on that sequence file (important: do not move it into the timeline, just double click). and all your seperate scenes/shots/files (cut in Premiere pro) appear in the timeline in AE as seperated layers (also transitions and styles from Premiere PRo are imported).

-then use coole effects on them separedly. if you wanne render in AE, your done here.

render out in Premiere :

-then save your AE file. and if you wanna render it out in Premiere pro, just open the AE project file in Premiere.

-then only 1 clip will appear, but you’ve edit this the first time in PP and allready applied effects on it in AE, so no prob there 🙂

i tried dynamic link, but this is only a options for 1 scene/dvd menu or whatever per sequence. only usefull if you wanne see direct result between AE and PP. not with a movie with 200 shots or so:P

hi there,

when you imported your PP project into After effects using file->import. You must double click on the sequence file you see in the project panel(no drag/drop). This should work and should not give any problems. Other thing you have to look at is the format, mayby you’re using a format in PP that AE doesn’t like which resulting in different stuff(see the specification on the adobe website for AE and all it’s formats it can handle)

can you tell me exactley how you imported it? and by “different in and out points at various part of the comp“, you mean at the segments you cut in premiere?

Thanxs for pushing me in the right direction, a combination off those you mentioned get’s me a little closer, but there is a problem. In the movie-clip you see 3D pressure waves, and with warp-puddle there are only 2D displacement waves with no DEPT. can you mayby by more specific with the phrase (“plate as a guide layer”), I’m quite new to sapphire and I’m not sure how to give the puddlewaves any dept

anybody an idea how to get this to 3D, it would be so fine 🙂

heey,

okey, you could define some things here. A shiny disco ball can be made in Invigorator pro, add some light and with trapcode you could make some interesting stuff, you can see the website from “Serge Hamad” (see the pictures above the forum) where he has (somewere) a shiny disco ball and it’s project files.
For the dotting lights around boards etc, use the vegas effect (search for it). for the rest, use your imagination and combine different effects, there are to many options so be creative. offcourse you could search for “disco effects” or something like that.
If you still don’t have a clue what to do, follow tutorials read books about AE and the ideas will begin in time.

so you wanna put small clips from that “big” one from PP to AE. you can cut them in PP and then import them seperatly in AE. in case you didn’t search for dynamic link here is my “guide” for AE-PP

i think this will help you :

hi there

there is a plugin for PP called mainconcept pro HD MPEG converter. it’s 500 dollars or so.

if you install for example the K-lite package for all your codexes ALL should work fine including playing the file etc (on your pc). PP will import them, handle them and other graphics as well. only will give sometimes a “unknown” error because it yeah it doesn’t seems to like MPEG at certrain frames. You can try “winavi” to convert them, is kinda good, but alot of work if you have 200 shots from your sony cam 🙂
