    Mike,

How much RAM do you have in the system ? Do you have a SCSI of Fibre Channel card in the system. I’m putting together a 3.0 MacPro with LHe/Celerity and it’s giving me fits. It’ll start but locks up hard under a load. The only way it’s stable is to reduce the RAM to 1GB (the recommended 2GB didn’t do the trick).

Oh the wonders of new technology !!

Basically it’s like you said. New systems, new surprises ! By-the-way I have it on reliable authority that AJA will have an updated driver solving the 2GB limitation “very soon”, hopefully later this month. Until then it looks like we’ll be pulling RAM out of our Mac Pro’s.

P.S. Do you know if BMD has this problem with their UB driver ?

[Bob Zelin] “ALSO, the ATTO Utilities (like ATTO Configuration Tool) don’t work on the MAC Pro, but the ATTO driver for the FC-42ES card do work in the MAC Pro.”

    Hi Bob,

I’m about to do an MacPro/Atto/LHe installation. I’ve been in touch with Atto about the driver issues but I assumed that because the Atto Configuration Tool was a Java applet it would work okay on MacPro. Are you sure this isn’t a Java issue ?

[Peter Wiggins] “when everybody else is running SLI.”

The big question… do/will the new Mac’s support SLI ? I think it would be a tremendous oversight if they didn’t.

    Hi Wally,

5 – 8 weeks to get one with an ATI X1900 or 5 – 8 weeks just to get anything at all ? I heard there would be a longer delay on orders for one with an X1900.

    Bart

P.S. I’ve had good results with GeForce 7800’s on Quads.

[walter biscardi] “I want to wait for Intel to ship their Dual Cores as they look like they are going to be blazing fast when the desktops arrive.”

    Hi Wally,

Sure the 32-bit Intel Core Duo in the new MacBook is much faster than the 32-bit G4 processor in the PowerBook but will these Intel processors be faster than the 64-bit dual-core G5 processoers in today’s PowerMac’s ?? I think the jury’s still out. Also how well Rosetta works, how well hardware/drivers adjust to the new platform, and how quickly various en-sundry apps are ported to “Universal” are all questions that still remain to be answered. Personally I find these “quad” G5’s to be blazingly fast. Just my two cents !!

What type of DVD player ? Is it a copy protected DVD ??

    Bart

P.S. The analog in on the LH can be used to input component, Y/C, or composite depending on your settings in the Kona control panel.

I only have personal experience with two configurations. Dual controller L with the Astera Rhino card and single controller L with the Atto Celerity card. At our HD Suite we’re running two 15 drive single controller L’s, one on each channel of the Celerity card. We’re seeing throughput of 370MB/s plus.

By-the-way Apple just anounced the new PowerMacs. All the slots are PCIe and definitely not compatible with PCI-X cards. Here we go again !!!
