August 30, 2010 at 11:17 pm in reply to: HPX 502 with KJ21ex7.6B Chromatica aberration problemsThe CAC file still needs to be selected in the lens menu. The camera ships with a number of pre-loaded choices.
Make sure the appropriate file is loaded.
If so, then contact Panasonic Service.

If the lens file is not loaded into the camera, check the Panasonic web site and download the appropriate file to an SD card, and load into the camera.

August 12, 2010 at 8:11 pm in reply to: Need advice to P2 workflow, Cache-A Tape storage and FCP ServerThis may not be the right vehicle for specific answers to your workflow, but I can speak in more general terms.
You will want to look at ShotPut Pro for offloading cards, not the Finder with Automator.
I wrote a short review here.
If you need to be able to edit the footage on either PPC or Intel without proxies, then DVCProHD would be the way to go.
You can edit AVC-Intra natively in ProRes, but not on PPC macs.
FC Server is good for making proxies, but you should find consultant to figure out your specific workflows.
Archive the P2 volumes to Cache-A box. This can be done automatically with HD Log from Imagine Products, or maybe with FC Server. There is also a connector for the CAT DV database and the ProCache to track assets. Might be all you need in place of FC Server.
Also consider RayLight https://dvfilm.com/raylight/mac/index.htm instead of P2Flow if you want to take advantage of advanced organizational workflows with P2 metadata.
Read this article for more info on P2 workflows with Raylight.

If you plan to use firewire for the connection to the laptop, keep in mind that in the PN modes, there is no output over firewire. Use a non-PN mode for live out.

AJA Support has shed some light on my problem.
This Kona system is in a college. I have the students log in as a non-admin user.
The control pannel will not store the last used state if the logged in user is not an admin.
So either i figure out a way to override the default settings in the system library or have the students load a preset before each session.

Thanks Gary,
I realize that these connectors are digital. I am using ADA4 to get analog audio into Kona. It travels on the XLR inputs.
With some capture cards, audio input is chosen via FCP in the capture preset editor. There are no options to choose which input via FCP for the Kona. The setting on the Kona CP does not hold after a restart.

I am a fan of Raylight, but purchased P2FLow last year to test alternate workflows.
P2FLow places the metadata into the clips, raylight puts the metadata into the clip name and on a slate on frame 2 as Shane stated.
For me, Raylight has one feature that P2Flow does not, and that is the ability to generate folders based on the Program metadata field. I use this for multicam shoots to organize my shots. Saves tons of time.
P2CMS is the tool I use to repair any metadata that got botched in the field. I sometimes use it to copy one or two clips between P2 cards.
