The best options for you are to either reconnect the stills in your FCP timeline to the new versions, or to “Paste Content” of the new versions into your timeline. The FCP manual will give a simple rundown of how to reconnect media or past content.

I’ve been using inmotionhosting.com for the last few years. They’ve always been very responsive on the very rare occasions when I’ve had to deal with them for support. Inexpensive, and Spam Assasin is pre-installed on your email server.

This is your problem. Any fine detail that’s only 1 or 2 pixels will create moire. You may need to soften this detail by a very slight blurring- only 0.5%-2% will fix it in most situations.
If you’re using a Kona and winding up on digiBeta, you should be previewing your work out of AE to a video monitor while you work. That way you’ll catch these problems before you render out of AE.

If you import the footage into FCP you can look in the browser to find out the frame rate. Or you can open it up in Quicktime use the “show info” to see the framerate.

[Eli Mavros] “I have some telecined footage”
Stop right there. If you have telecined footage, you probably have ALE or FLX files to go with them. You should import those logs into Cinema Tools, use that to generate an FCP batch list & then you can capture & remove pulldown. This will save you a lot of pain & suffering (& probably some $$$) later on.

May 12, 2009 at 2:12 am in reply to: cropping even 1 pixel neutralizes line 21….. why? What happens if you use a 4-point garbage matte in FCP? Do you get the line 21 captions, or do they disappear?

May 12, 2009 at 2:05 am in reply to: Slightly OT 1998 Original Shake GUI design sketches.I was reading in Millimeter about how they used flashlights pointed into the camera lens to make a lot of the lens flares. Others were added in post, but they didn’t mention Sapphire or Knoll Light Factory. Ironic, since John Knoll created some of KLF for the 1st Star Trek movie!

[Ramona Howard] “In the world of stereo genlocking and phase sync is extremely important. Try it without it and your eyes will be ripped from the sockets….”
This is a big problem when working with cheaper cameras, like HDV. the lack of genlock means that you can easily be a little off sync, maybe a half or quarter frame. In some situations it can really ruin the effect. Your eyes are trying to process separate pieces of information, and they don’t quite match.

Rates vary from market to market. The going rate in Toronto is not the same as it would be in New York, Atlanta or LA.

Thanks!
I have to say, this is a real breakthrough in price. Up until now, all of the less expensive DDRs have only connected via FW, and they’ve only recorded in either the camera native or some other heavily compressed format.
This is the least expensive DDR that has pro connectivity and a much less lossy codec.
Kudos to AJA!
