I have a 3 minute sequence with 40 or 50 still images only. Im trying to figure out a method to easily replace them with a different format still.

For example replace test.jpeg with test.png.

I tried taking the test.jpeg offline and relinking the test.png
with “match name” turned off in the finder browser, but it only seems
to work one at a time since there is no true relationship between the files.

Any thoughts on a better method?

    Thanks

Replace edit (F11). The manual shows you how to do this.

There is no way to replace all at one time.

Thanks for your response Steve. I was afraid there is no easy work flow for this.

Unfortunately there are numerous effects applied to the stills so I was hoping to replace the
    content rather than overwrite it.

I suppose I can copy my sequence onto another track-replace
the footage on the new sequence and then just copy and paste the effects after.

Now that I have had a night to stew about it I wondered if I could create an EDL and change
the image extensions from there to automate the “replace” process a bit.
Ill have to test that on a few images. Thoughts?

    Thanks again

The best options for you are to either reconnect the stills in your FCP timeline to the new versions, or to “Paste Content” of the new versions into your timeline. The FCP manual will give a simple rundown of how to reconnect media or past content.

This might not be the best method, but one thing I do with stills is copy the new still, then Paste Attributes on the existing still, and select Content. That leaves the transitions etc…
