So I moved the card from slot 2 (16X) to slot 3 (4X), and it just works. Go figure!

If you don’t have the budget to have this done with Teranex or Alchemist, then your best bet is the “24 at 25” option. Simply use Cinema Tools to change the speed to 25fps. You will get a frame to frame output, but your show will be 4% shorter. You may have to make it up somehow, by cutting in more material, perhaps, if the network or producer requires it.

First off, FCP can sort an EDL by reel number. Simply choose “source” as the sort order (instead of “program”.
Second, you can open the EDL in Text Edit and modify it there.

When each lab roll was transfered to DVCam, the lab probably gave you logs on a floppy disk. Most people stick these disks in a drawer and forget about them because they don’t know that they have telecine logs on them, and besides, nobody has floppy drives anymore. You should find these floppies, buy a USB floppy drive and use them to help make pull lists.

Unless you use Shake, there’s no reason to use the non-NDD driver. The NDD driver disables Shake’s output to your broadcast monitor.

That would have saved me a lot of effort on a VFX shot I made 3 years ago where I had to set a river on fire using Motion’s particle system!
