H.264 1080P60 encoding
I’ve got some H.264 1920×1080 60 fps progressive scan footage and I was wondering what is the best way to import it into Final Cut Pro with minimal loss of quality/frames in the encoding process? Will MPEG Streamclip suffice? What are the ideal export settings? Exporting to quicktime with a DV Codec doesn’t seem to work anymore.

compressor will get you there just as easily as Mpeg StreamClip, i think,
most likely by converting it to a ProRes format,
but then again…. see questions above.nick

I don’t understand? Are you asking what I want to do in the editing process?

Any format, I’d probably export to quicktime H.264

Hi james,
Although H264 supports even 10b and 4.4.4 structures, the standard H264 we get when compressing with QT, Compressor, etc is 8b and (I guess) 4.2.0
8b Uncompress would be the codec that would keep the full quality when converted.
An 10b codec would be unnecessary. Any other 8b codec would re-compress the picture.
PhotoJPEG 75% would be another good option.

Drop it into Compressor and convert it to ProRes.
