You need a higher end deck, like a DSR-1500 or 1800 for this. You’d connect the LH to the composite “Super” jack, and set the deck to show the TC in the picture.

I think your bid was exceedingly low. When someone says something like that to me, I politely tell them that they’re welcome to do it themselves, and just as welcome to come back to me later if they’re unhappy with the result. At my previous bid, though.

[Barry O’Brien] “Don’t bother to shoot in 720p30, because it’s not really a standard for SMPTE, in which case I’m curious why it exists: smaller storage requirements per minute of material?”
I wouldn’t go that far. I think there’s plenty benefit from shooting in 30P or 24P native.
You do save disk space, yes. But you also save render time by creating fewer frames for any VFX or graphics that you create.
And if you shoot 24PN, it’s very easy to record out to film or to a 1080 24PsF master.

Use the 720P 59.94 setting.
[Barry O’Brien] “Am I missing something? Why no 720p30? “
According to SMPTE, the ITU and other standards setting bodies, there’s no such thing as 720P30 or 720P24. These formats only exist as data formats, so they can’t be played out natively to a video monitor.

[Lynette Gilbert] “I’m now having problems with the files – will have to rename all the files with .mov extensions. Sigh.”
You can use Automator for this. I had to do it recently for some footage I’d captured from HDV. You use the “Rename Finder Items” action and change it to “Add Text” “After Name”, then point it to the folder holding the QT files.

I’ve never used it, but Euphonix makes one.

[Matt Kerstein] “13MB/sec = 130mbps”
your school district must have taught the “new” math. 1 Byte= 8 bits, so in my school district 12.5MB/sec is 100mb/sec.
