  • Digging HDV 1080i, FCP keeps forcing media to SD

    I’m diging footage shot on a Sony HVR-V1U in 1080i. FCP forces the final media into SD 720×480 DVCPro/NTSC. Diging from camera directly thru firewire. Tape stock is maxell minidv.
    My A/V settings are set to capture HDV and device is Sony HDV Firewire.

    It’s not an FCP issue, it’s the camera, improper set to down-convert in the menu settings. This is a very common issue that we see all the time here.

    It’s also possible that these tapes were actually shot in SD. After checking the camera’s VTR settings, the camera display should tell you what the tape is.
