DVCPRO HD and FCP bit rates
Posted by Matt Kerstein on January 29, 2010 at 11:10 pmIf DVCPRO HD goes to tape at 100mbps. How come it comes into to FCP at 14.5?

January 29, 2010 at 11:20 pmI think it is the difference between megabits and megabytes per second. Usually it is delineated by big M or small m.
FCP doesn’t change the data on ingest so both rates are the same.

January 29, 2010 at 11:34 pmThanks Mike..But Im still wondering..so 13MB/sec = 130mbps..that would be over the native data rate?

January 30, 2010 at 12:11 amDVCPRO HD 720p60 is 100mb/s. If you capture a lower frame rate, like 23.98, then the data rate is less…because you captured less frames.
And the math isn’t straight even numbers. Just like 1MB isn’t 1000KB…it is 1024KB.

January 30, 2010 at 5:20 am[Matt Kerstein] “13MB/sec = 130mbps”
your school district must have taught the “new” math. 1 Byte= 8 bits, so in my school district 12.5MB/sec is 100mb/sec.
